Karan Arjun (Devanagari: करन अरजुन Nastaliq: کرن اَرجُن) is an Indian Bollywood film starring- Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Mamta Kulkarni, Raakhee, Amrish Puri, Johnny Lever and Ranjeet. The film was directed by Rakesh Roshan, and written by Ravi Kapoor and Sachin Bhowmick. Karan Arjun is a mix of an upbeat Bollywood musical, religious overtones and an action movie. The film released on 13 January 1995. It was the second highest grossing film of the year, ranking as blockbuster.[3]

Story

Durga Singh is a widowed woman who raises her two sons, Karan and Arjun. Their father was murdered by his evil brother Durjan Singh. Durjan kills Karan and Arjun when he learns that they are to inherit the money their dying grandfather is leaving behind. Durga cannot accept the death of her sons. She prays to Goddess Kali to bring her sons back to life. Durjan and his family often immitate her prayers and constantly remind her that her sons were killed.
Durga's prayers are answered when Karan and Arjun are reborn - however, they are born into different families and have no knowledge of their previous lives. Arjun is reincarnated as Vijay and Karan is reincarnated as Ajay. Twenty years pass - Vijay works at a stable with his uncle after the death of his parents. He manages to win the heart of Sonia Saxena but does not know that she is to marry Durjan Singh's son, Suraj. Meanwhile, Ajay is a fighter and is in love with a girl in his village named Bindiya. When Ajay's father is dying from liver failure, Ajay receives an offer from Saxena (Sonia's father and Durjan Singh's partner in crime) - if Ajay wins his next fight, Saxena will give him the money to pay for his father's operation. However, Ajay's father is already dead when Ajay wins the fight. When Saxena hears that Sonia is in love with Vijay, he send Suraj to kill him. Suraj sets Vijay's stable on fire and believes he has killed Vijay. However, Vijay survives and arrives at Sonia and Suraj's engagement party and begins to attack Suraj. Ajay is called into fight Vijay but they suddenly get prevented from attacking one another by a bolt of lightning. When Saxena attempts to shoot Vijay, Ajay stops him whilst shouting "Run, Arjun,run!" Vijay escapes and Ajay is sent to prison. Vijay is confused about the incident at the party - he does not understand why one moment, Ajay attacked him and the next, why he saved him from being killed.
Vijay receives a letter from Sonia - she says she is being taken by force to Durjan Singh's house to marry Suraj and that she will committ suicide if she is forced to do so. Vijay arrives at the village with his friend. This turns out to be the village where Durga lives - Vijay keeps having unexplainable flashbacks. He is greeted by everyone as Arjun, Durga sees him and is overjoyed. Vijay sees why when he spots her holding a photograph of him and Ajay, this is what makes him realise that he and Ajay were brothers in their past life. Vijay rushes with Bindiya to save Ajay. Ajay refuses to believe that he has been reincarnated. However, when Durjan Singh's brothers-in=law start attacking Vijay, Ajay has flashbacks and realises that he was once Vijay's brother, he and Vijay reassume their identities. Durjan's brothers-in-law decide to bring Karan and Arjun before Durjan - they are killed in the process. One night in the temple, Karan and Arjun appear, making Durjan think he is seeing ghosts. He later finds out that they were real.
Sonia escapes Durjan's house and reunites with Arjun. Durjan and his bandits attempt to kill Karan and Arjun. With the help of the villagers however, all the bandits are killed. Eventually only Durjan is left - he tries to shoot Karan and Arjun but they take his guns and kill him instead. At the temple, Karan marries Bindiya and Arjun marries Sonia.
